Press Release Summary: Literacy Instruction for Texas, in conjunction with 8 Tarrant
County participants, launched a new on-line, distance learning program, called GED
Direct, for GED preparation classes. LIFT is the only adult literacy organization
in the United States to offer such a program.

Press Release Body: Literacy Instruction for Texas, in conjunction with 8 Tarrant
County participants, launched a new on-line, distance learning program, called GED
Direct, for GED preparation classes. LIFT is the only adult literacy organization
in the United States to offer such a program.
GED Direct will give those adult learners who cannot attend formal classes in GED
preparation, a chance to study and prepare for their GED. The program is offered
free of charge to the participating agencies and free of charge to the adult
learners. GED Direct is accessed through the LIFT website.
Tarrant County agencies participating in the launch of GED Direct are The Learning
Center of North Texas, Women's Center, the Center for Commmunity Enrichment, the
United Community Center, Hope Literacy, the Arlington Library,, Mid Cities Literacy
and Texas Re-Entry.
